Losing More Than Just Your Teeth
Did you know that nearly three-quarters of American adults have lost at least one tooth? Before they blow out candles on that 50th birthday cake, most Americans have lost an average of 12 teeth. People can lose their teeth for all sorts of reasons. They can be lost because of accidents or injuries. Some medical treatments or conditions, such as chemotherapy for cancer patients, can also lead to loss of teeth. The most common reason people lose their teeth is because of two diseases that are preventable: tooth decay and gum disease. Tooth decay can lead to tooth loss because of cavities. Gum disease can lead to tooth loss because the gums get infected and can fall apart.
If you are losing teeth, you need to know that losing teeth can lead to serious problems with your mouth. Your remaining teeth may decide to take up space in your mouth by moving to replace the teeth you lost. This could cause problems with your bite. You might also begin to lose bone density in your jaw, which over time, could change the shape of your face. These problems are much more serious than losing a tooth because of gum disease.
Same Day Dentures
We can replace your teeth the same day - which is a vast improvement over days or even weeks with no teeth. You call to come in and visit our office. We will use old x-rays or take pictures of your jaw to make you a new set of teeth while you wait. New technology allows us to create a 3D mold and craft your teeth.
If you get same-day dentures, you may have to come back in a few weeks to get your dentures adjusted. This is especially true if you had teeth removed and dentures put in the same day. Your gums might have been swollen when we fitted your dentures. When the swelling goes down, your dentures may be a little too large. We can adjust them for you.
